Abstract

The Precambrian Delhi Group of rocks, which extend along a northeast-southwest belt in Rajasthan, disclose the presence of superimposed folds. A limited area around Kushalgarh in north eastern Rajasthan has been structurally studied in detail to establish the relative influence of the successive generations of folds which control the distribution of different units of the Delhi Group.

At Kushalgarh area a special interest is the study of superimposition of a late generation of fold on an earlier one. The structural pattern of the Delhi Group of rocks is shown to be dependent on the manner of such superimposition.

Ball textures in the sulphide ores of Khetri copper belt, Rajasthan are considered to be the result of extreme deformation. The ore in the cases described are considered premetamorphic.

Abstract

This is a preliminary report on the nodulation study of some useful leguminous plants. 98 species of Leguminosae have been collected and examined for ischolar_main nodules. Of these 54 are members of Papilionoideae, 27 of Caesalpinioideae and 17 of Mimosoideae.

Abstract

Surfactants are commonly used in many personal care, pharmaceutical and food products that humans and others come in contact with in our daily life. The impact of the surfactants on human health is of growing concern and has been recognized by industries, governments and the general public. Thus, there is recognition for the need for benign or “greener” surfactants. Surfactants are typically considered greener if they are acquired from natural sources and undergo greener processing routes. In this regard, greener surfactants are biosurfactants derived from microbes and plant. Bacteria produce a variety of surfactants, such as Emulsan, which is produced by gram-negative bacterium Acinetobacter calcoaceticus strain RAG-1, extracellular sophorolipids produced by Candida bombicola species, rhamnolipids produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in L-Rhamnosyl-L-Rhamnosyl-β-hydroxydecanoyl-β-hydroxydecanoate and L- rhamnosyl-β-hydroxydecanoyl-β-hydroxyd ecanoate forms, and lipopeptide produced by Bacillus subtilis. Furthermore, using today’s advanced synthesis biological tools, bacteria can be genetically modified to produce surfactants with molecular structures for desired performance. For example, Bacillus subtilis strains can be developed which are capable of producing different types of fatty acid and glutamate based surfactants. These bio-surfactants exhibit surface active properties similar to conventional surfactants. It is to be noted that biosurfactant molecules are complex in terms of the surfactant functional groups and varying carbon chain lengths and understanding of the structure-property-performance relationships of these complex molecules is therefore key to their optimum usability.

Abstract

The polymetallic sulphide are deposits of Delhi-Aravalli orogenic belt exhibit occurrerce of freibergite (a mineral of fahlore group) as a major source for recovery of silver as an important byproduct. EPMA data on the chemistry offreibergite is presented. In order to obtain optimal recovery of Ag from the ores of these deposits, selective flotation of freibergite is suggested.

Abstract

With the advent of new technologies, modern machineries have become very complex in nature. Every year a large chunk,of money is consumed for withdrawing machines from service due to breakdown and maintenance. Ferrography can extract valuable information about machine-health while it is in running condition. These information are very vital for planning machine operation and scheduling maintenance time in order to achieve maximum reliability, safety and economy of production. Out of the four basic methods of Condition Monitoring, namely, visual, performance, vibration and wear debris analysis, ferrography deals with the last one.

Abstract

At present manufacturing sectors are capable to produce complex components within small tolerance zone in the tune of nano-range at one machining center due to vast advancement of digital electronics and microprocessor. To measure those components high resolution measuring equipment are needed both for linear and angular measurement. For small angle measurement, in the sub-second range, micro-optic auto-collimator or micro-optic angle dekker are used. The performance of these measuring systems are not perfectly accurate due to the error in measuring scale which will change over time to time due to wear, damage and effect of environmental conditions. Analysis of these errors using a laser measurement system provides the user with a way to achieve better accuracy and hence higher quality output from measuring process. In this communication, an innovative technique to measure the angular scale error of auto-collimator and angle dekker by a laser interferometer calibration system has been discussed and the performance accuracy of those equipment has been verified.
